Laurel Heath ( Animato, Piano,
Accompanist)
Laurel received her BS in music education from Eastern
Nazarene College where she sang in the a capella choir,
played baritone in the band and brass ensemble and
performed two piano recitals. She then received her MMus
from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Laurel has taught at every level from preschool through
college and enjoys the challenges and rewards of each
different age group. Since 2004 Laurel has taught at
Springfield Park Elementary School in Glen Allen where she
sees approximately 740 children each week for music classes
and directs the 5th grade chorus. She also teaches piano
privately. Besides teaching school, Laurel has been
involved in church music; singing in the choir, ringing
handbells and directing and/or accompanying children’s
choirs. She has sung with Princeton Pro Musica and the
Pittsburgh Bach Choir and rung with the Volkwein Ringers in
Pittsburgh.
Laurel joined the Da Capo Institute faculty in 2008.
