Group instruction is central to our community building mission. Members of all ages become a part of an instant support community just like sports teams and neighborhood friendships. Our chorus' communities use your unique talents to improve the whole. Groups rehearse and meet regularly each semester and then present 2-3 regional performances or showcases as appropriate.

Group Instruction will be offered at River Road Presbyterian on Monday evenings and at Huguenot Road Baptist on Tuesday evenings. Specific class offerings and times may vary at each location according to enrollment and demand. Check the Online Calendar for details and times/updates.

• Animato (grades 3-5) 6:30pm - 7:30pm: Is our flagship children's offering. This offering is for elementary school children who are seeking a next level opportunity to grow as musicians and people. In Animato, they are provided both the skills and the experiences required to become elite musicians.
  • Prima Volta (grades K-2) 6:30pm - 7:15pm : is a general music learning group instruction environment targeted at the development of our youngest students. Perfect for home schoolers and families seeking a solid foundation for their musicians. Sessions are themed and include: the sounds of music, world music I and world music II. These children learn to make music a part of their life gaining enjoyment and discipline from their experiences.
  • Cantare (grades 6-8) 5:15pm - 6:15pm : A performing and learning ensemble targeted for middle school students. This group, sings and performs regularly throughout the community and in major events as appropriate.
• Bel Canto (adult) 7:45pm - 9:00pm: our premiere adult vocal offering. This is a hybrid, "class voice" setting which focuses on group vocal technique, musical concepts, theory and repertoire and some group choral singing. This class teaches adult singer to present themselves and vocal works in a "world class" environment less intimidating than traditional concert halls. Events and all Instruction are built around the concept of using music as a language to reach out to our local communities. Our venues are typically churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and even private residences.

Our musicians perform regularly at Da Capo events and concert series as well as in their schools, churches and with other community music groups. Pianists, Singers, and Instrumentalists of ALL ability levels from beginner to master find growth and performances opportunities abundant as a result of their relationship with Da Capo.

Founded in 2006, the Da Capo institute offers musical training in a community based, passion driven approach via choruses, private instruction, coaching, small ensembles and public performances. If you live in Chesterfield or the greater Richmond area, we have options for you!!
